Inspiring talks, networking, and interactive customer-led sessions were the key elements of our 3rd annual Fonteva User’s Networking Conference serving Europe (FUNcon EU). FUNcon EU provided Fonteva users and partners with a full day of engaging content about every part of digital transformation, enabling them to get the most out of Fonteva’s membership management solution.
FUNcon EU 2019 was double the size of the 2018 conference, with users traveling from across the UK and from as far away as Germany and Switzerland. Salesforce.Org, Ortoo, BlueSky, Zentso and Emprisia all attended as partners to network and provide advice to attendees.
The day started with an Executive Overview by Fonteva Co-Founder and President, Paul Lundy, who told the story of Fonteva’s growth since its founding in 2010 and provided a glimpse of some exciting future announcements.

Fonteva users are the driving force behind innovation. User feedback shared with our Customer Success team, both global and local, has directly impacted on improvements to the products for all users. With over 250 customers in 100 countries, each passionate about their unique mission, FUNcon EU was a chance to celebrate user’s successes and their organisation’s digital transformations.
Chris Gorgoroso, Fonteva Director of Product Management, shared details regarding upcoming releases in the product roadmap, including optimised multi-currency and multi-lingual features.
In his new role as Regional Vice President for the UK and Ireland at Salesforce.Org, Richard Young, former Vice President, International at Fonteva, joined users to share how his new role will further enhance the relationship between Salesforce.Org and Fonteva.
Adding some membership industry context, Richard Gott, Founder of MemberWise, shared trends in digital transformation in the UK association industry, highlighting how it’s essential for organisations to embrace digital transformation so they don’t get left behind.
Developing user’s member experiences were also highlighted by two exclusive demos on ‘Leveraging Salesforce Lightning Communities’ and Salesforce Marketing Cloud. Users could personally ask about new features, solutions, and implementation managers to help guide decisions to add on features.
In response to feedback from 2018, FUNcon EU 2019 delivered user-led discussion groups where attendees shared challenges, advice, and experiences. The four sessions and outcomes included:
‘How to be successful on Salesforce’ led by Matt Harrison (Director of Social Enterprise, Homeless link) and Salesforce.org
The key advice included using the Salesforce AppExchange to see what tools you can implement. This saves costly customised equipment without first truly understanding how to maximise the technology already in place.

All Fonteva users agreed that adoption is difficult but can be achieved by successfully motivating your team.
‘Success stories in Member engagement’ Jyoti Hull-Jurkovic, Zentso
The key difficulty identified for member engagement was the question of how you measure it. The shared answer was to have a formal strategy in place to decide what engagement means for your organisation.

The key topics discussed with the technical experts included difficulties associated with upgrading. The important point was constant communication with the product team.

Users had a chance to share their experiences and challenges of undergoing a digital transformation. Our customer keynote was Armin Donhauser, CIO of AO Foundation, a global membership organisation that aims to promote excellence in patient care and outcomes in trauma and musculoskeletal disorders.
Armin gave other users tips for success during a digital transformation, like “work within your budget and don’t try to do too much at once” and “involve all your organisation and streamline processes as much as possible.” Armin advised to stick to a standardised product and not choose costly customisation.
